A healthcare actuarial professional typically engages in performing the following: critical statistical research on healthcare actuarial data; performing in-depth analysis on new trends in the healthcare actuarial market; helping the clients to understand the effect typical health actuarial plan variables have on profitability and risks associated; providing estimates on healthcare actuarial product solutions; recommending a plan of action and following up on recommendations in the healthcare actuary business ventures; working on risk reduction for healthcare actuary finance management; working with stakeholders and government officials for a variety of purposes and performing other tasks as required.
A healthcare actuarial professional should have a bachelor's degree in actuary science, statistics, or insurance. Excellent academic credentials are required. Prior experience gained from a healthcare actuarial role may be advantageous.
