Job Description Job Summary: Determines risk, makes pricing decisions and formulates employee benefits plans.
The Product and Pricing Actuary will perform critical modeling and analytic projects necessary to measure and manage the strategic direction of Ascension Care Management risk based health products. Results will be presented to key decision makers, and there is an opportunity for this role to become a valued partner to the management of Ascension Care Management. Responsibilities: Develops pricing models using mathematical modeling techniques and statistical concepts to determine probability and assess risks.
Develops forecasts of expense and funding for employee plans.
Evaluates the effectiveness of financial management programs that seek to control and minimize risk.
Presents reports, explaining their implications to stakeholders, and advising on risk limitation
Develops pricing models for health & welfare benefits including but not limited to calculation of IBNR claim liabilities, pricing benefit plans, pricing stop loss premiums, pricing associated with design and redesign of health plan changes, calculation of COBRA rates.
Models and evaluates risk for Ascension associate plans and Ascension population health services and solutions to health systems, payers, and employers
Collaborates with outside actuarial consultants to ensure they have the appropriate information necessary to accurately complete outsourced projects.
Communicates annual funding, expense, and other actuarial\/financial information. Desired Responsibilities: Lead the pricing and actuarial support of risk based product development for commercial health lines of business
Development and identification of key drivers of product experience for commercial health lines of business
Progress toward attainment of FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) Qualifications
Bachelor's Level Degree\u00a0Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field required.Eight to ten years progressive experience in the health & welfare plans actuarial service line, with experience in multiple discipline actuarial service lines.Experience working for a consulting firm is preferred.
Desired Education Bachelor\u2019s level degree in Actuarial Science or related field
Associate of the Society of Actuaries or Recent Fellow of the Society of Actuaries Desired Work Experience:
4 years of healthcare actuarial experience
Preferred Competencies Strong communication skills with an ability translate complex models into easily understood information accessible to a variety of audiences
Ability to drive change and exercise influence on key decision makers
