Description Position Summary:

Reserve National Insurance is seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Actuary to work from our office in Oklahoma City. As a member of our actuarial team, you will be working to drive profit and growth by helping to determine the profitability for the companys Supplemental Accident and Health insurance portfolio. Your experience in Supplemental Health insurance will give you expertise to perform experience studies and reserve analysis and how these change over time. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the valuation and financial reporting aspects of Supplemental Accident and Health insurance, understand the GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation requirements for those products, and can nurture strong working relationships with peers in operations, compliance, accounting, underwriting, IT, and financial planning and analysis. You will provide analysis to support business decision-making and strategy, utilizing expert actuarial and analytic techniques. The successful applicant will appreciate the rigorous requirements of actuarial science yet enjoy the challenge of defining and improving processes in a growing and dynamic environment.

Position Responsibilities:

- . Assists in conducting actuarial analysis for the determination of adequate reserve levels (including claim reserves, pending claims, IBNR, and Active Life Reserves) on a Statutory, GAAP, and Tax basis.

- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual Valuation/Financial Reporting numbers and reports as necessary. Drive process improvement by integrating best practices.

- Assist in calculating Risk Capital and Enterprise Risk Management for the organization, including model development and enhancements. Understand and support capital allocation estimates and processes as needed.

- Help drive and support the building of experience reports, including complete trend and loss ratio analyses by business segment/line of business and state.

- Complete ad hoc actuarial analyses as required, such as what if scenarios and their impact on reserves and financials

- Support development & implementation of data & information strategy, working collaboratively with other stakeholders.

Position Qualifications:

- ASA with at least four years of accident and health actuarial experience and at least 2 years of Valuation/Financial Reporting experience with Supplemental Health Products

- Ability and desire to stay current on trends in the supplemental product space and help translate those trends into actionable strategic and tactical objectives for the company

- Ability to prepare materials to present actuarial findings and present to Senior Management

- Experience with both individual and group products preferred. Experience with both Supplemental Health and Life insurance also preferred

- Demonstrating the ability to prepare and analyze complex actuarial reports

- Bachelors degree in math, actuarial sciences, or related discipline

- Experience with a pricing and projection system, such as in Excel, Polysystems, AXIS, etc.

- Experience and understanding of GAAP and Statutory Balance Sheets and Income Statements

- Demonstrated track record of analytical leadership

- Experience managing actuarial staff a plus
