As a part of the Actuarial Center of Excellence (COE), the Modeling COE is responsible for governance, development, and testing of the valuation and projections end-to-end models within the domestic lines of Prudential businesses. The Modeling COE partners with the model owners located within various functional areas of the Actuarial organization to deliver innovative and creative modeling solutions to meet critical business needs. The Model Steward team within the Modeling COE manages the model governance program across all domestic Actuarial models for all uses, including pricing, valuation, forecasting, and capital management. This role will report to one of the Directors on the Model Steward team. Duties and Responsibilities: The Manager or Associate Actuary will engage with model developers, users, and testers to ensure effective integration of model governance, process, and controls in to the model development life cycle (MDLC). The individual will ensure that roles and responsibilities are clear and that all required phases are covered in project planning work. The individual will work directly with subject-matter-experts and model owners on the process to develop, test, and use actuarial models. The specific responsibilities include: • Support the communication, training, and maintenance of actuarial model governance standards and MDLC processes and associated principles; including standards for business requirements, model specifications, and test strategies and plans. • Develop expertise on model governance and EUCS policies, process, and controls for actuarial models. Be able to explain the significance and importance of these policies to users. • Share best practices to adhere to model governance policies, establish and improve processes, and ensure modeling teams meet model testing and documentation standards. · Position location can be Hartford, CT, Newark, NJ, or Dresher, PA. • Actuarial credentials useful but not required
• 2 years of relevant experience, including but not limited to actuarial model development, model governance, risk and controls, or process improvement • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence others and build strong relationships across a variety of functions and levels • Strong presentation skills and executive presence • Highly organized, collaborative, creative, and adept at handling multiple, changing priorities.
