Job no: 494458The actuarial associate position is an ASA with 6 years' experience in the finance or health insurance industry. The position will have primary responsibility for implementing and maintaining the special network discount analysis in the first year. In the 2nd year, the position is expected to allocate some time to assist the Actuarial Services staff and management with a variety of projects including reserving, trend evaluation, forecasting, and financial analysis.What you'll do:Analyze claim and non-claim data to identify trends and make recommendations on pricing and product design.Querying claim and member data from the enterprise data warehouse via SAS/SQL.Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and adapt actuarial processes rapidly.Perform analysis around network setup and network costsLearn health insurance data and methods of querying and analyzingLearn the fundamentals of claim reservingLearn the fundamentals of forecasting and financial analysisAssist other Actuarial Services team members with projects as neededLearn the fundamentals of trend analysisDevelop communication and presentation skillsWork with other departments regarding special project regularly To be considered for this position, you must have:Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics or Actuarial Science or related fieldSix (6) years of experience in Actuarial Analysis.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.Other Advanced Education: Associate of the Society of ActuariesThe strongest candidates for this position will also possess:Experience within the health industry preferred.Experience with the trend analysis, reserving and forecasting preferred.We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better workplace for our employees and a better product for our customers and members.Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer - Minorities/Females/Disabled/Veterans
