POSITION SUMMARY

This Director role will support Student Health initiatives by leading/managing projects in support of strategic and operating plan goals. Negotiate and influence sound business decisions by adhering to established risk management principles. Anticipate and recognize matters that materially affect financial results and make sound, unbiased reports on these matters. Participate on work groups/ forums representing Aetna to external constituents.

Fundamental Components:

Set pricing and trend parameters, Work with underwriting on school specific rating as needed

Oversee maintenance of pricing tools

Set reserves

Forecast financial performance

Partner with medical economics to identify cost issues and work with clinical team to resolve them

Ad hoc requests such as network analysis changes, financial performance problems

manage and develop actuarial team

Be part of small management team to input opinions on business strategy and execution

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Bachelor's degree and with 7 years related work experience

Must be an ASA or FSA and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries able to sign state rate filings and other required actuarial certifications

Prior management experience and the ability to develop staff

Prior experience in pricing and forecasting

Strong communication skills

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Actuarial/Member, Associate of the Society of Actuaries is required

Actuarial/Member, American Academy of Actuaries is desired

Actuarial/Fellow of the Society of Actuaries is desired

FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCES

Functional - Actuarial/Risk analysis/management/7-10 Years

Functional - Leadership/Lead a business in different geographies or multiple markets/7-10 Years

Functional - Leadership/Profit & Loss Accountability/7-10 Years

Telework Specifications:

Preferred location is Walnut Creek, CA but will consider Actuarial Hub locations
