Job Description SummaryDirects and provides leadership in the design, pricing, and implementation of LA UL Valuation and Modeling. Oversees a small team within actuarial modeling, risk management, valuation or other actuarial department.Job Description
Responsibilities - supports Transamerica Finance in the UL Life Valuation department including but not limited to:
Provides quarterly financial reporting on UL life insurance accumulation products (with and without secondary guarantee) to management on sales, persistency and mortality or morbidity experience for various product lines, reserve adequacy, risk management information, or various other similar items.
Manages studies that underlie actuarial assumptions and provides assumptions and data to others
Develop and review actuarial model assumptions that: accurately reflect current best-estimate of policyholders’ mortality and behavioral trends; and adequately quantifies risks posed to company (e.g. anti-selection)
Provide actuarial support for statutory Annual Statement (Exhibit 5, Page 7, etc.)
Develop intangible amortization streams for quarterly reporting, and annual budgeting process
Monitors and analyzes developments in actuarial techniques, laws and regulations applicable to company operations, and competitive developments in the marketplace.
Work in tandem with Accounting to finalize and review income statements and balance sheets
Contribute information to quarterly and annual actuarial surveys
Support Model Validation efforts and change management process requirements
Conduct and Validate cash flow testing projections and analyses
Assist in Transformation initiative, as UL modeling and valuation consolidate to AXIS platform
Promulgate an environment of continuous improvement and heightened efficiencies while maximizing accuracy
May represent the company on industry and professional committees and/or with regulators.
May lead/mentor actuarial professionals and risk analysts.
Qualifications
FSA or equivalent professional designation along with Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field and 6 years of relevant experience. In lieu of Bachelor's, will accept Master's in a listed discipline and 4 years of relevant experience. In lieu of FSA will accept ASA or equivalent professional designation and 10 years of relevant experience.
