This position is responsible for leading the pricing, product development, implementation, and actuarial in force maintenance of the company's individual life insurance products. This responsibility covers all aspects of pricing, including assumption development, model creation, analysis of emerging industry and company actuarial trends, collaboration with IT, marketing, and distribution on product initiatives, regulatory filings, and appropriate application of the company's profit expectations, standards, and protocols. The candidate must monitor developments in actuarial techniques, laws, and regulations applicable to the business; likewise, the candidate must develop a thorough understanding of company operations, competitive developments in the marketplace, and available research studies that impact the product space. Additional responsibilities will include engagement with actuarial pricing peers to develop best practices and modeling standards to be used across all lines of business, development of the pool of actuarial students who support the pricing team, and high level peer reviews of pricing models on other lines of business. Must have FSA designation or ASA with FSA expectations within a year or two. Candidate will be a leader on the product team and will be able to flex to developing organization changes.
A Bachelor's degree, FSA or near-FSA, and 3+ years of full-time actuarial experience is required. Experience with life and annuity products is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will be an excellent unstructured problem solver, have exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills, possess strong verbal and communication skills, and have the ability to work with a wide variety of both technical actuarial /IT audiences, and with leadership in marketing and customer service / administration. The candidate should display a forward-thinking mindset, with the ability to build and create new solutions related to product pricing, implementation, and product positioning.
