The primary role of the Senior Actuarial Analyst is to partner with the Chief Actuary, Account Management, and Financial Underwriting teams, supporting the Trion mission. The Analyst will contribute actuarial expertise to projects including general insurance consulting, insurance product redesign and process improvement, and insurance valuation certification. The Analyst will provide comprehensive actuarial services for large employers (3,000 lives) with a primary focus on life, accident, disability and absence management programs including: Basic and Supplemental Life, Basic and Voluntary AD&D, FMLA Leave Administration, Salary Continuance/Short Term Disability plan administration and insurance, Statutory Disability, Paid Time Off programs and Long Term Disability. The Analyst should be qualified to sign as a Member of the Academy of Actuaries. The Analyst will be responsible for a wide variety of actuarial models for pricing and valuation, funding, and impact on overall business objectives. The Analyst will also be responsible for improving actuarial tools, including spreadsheets and databases, cross-company education and underwriting processes.
This position is in the Absence, Disability and Life Practice of the Financial Services and Underwriting Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide strategic input on financial analysis for existing and prospective customers by utilizing actuarial modeling and projection tools and various reporting techniques;
Develop support that includes an actuarially sound reasonable range of assumptions on underwriting, financial, and risk analysis on Absence, Disability and Life clients;
Evaluate and critique model inputs, appropriateness of assumptions and embedded methodologies, including data relevance, completeness, and conceptual soundness;
Facilitate cross-functional work between multiple teams;
Mentor, motivate and train other analysts, providing development opportunities and offering feedback;
Actively participate in prospective client data analysis and presentations;
Lead and conduct special underwriting & actuarial projects;
Assist in the development of best practices for the Underwriting department;
Develop and present underwriting training programs;
Present information to technical and non-technical audiences;
Help identify root causes, leading indicators, and drivers of trends and outliers in data;
Research regulations and remain abreast of the dynamic, competitive insurance environment, new and complex insurance projects, appropriate underwriting techniques, analyze developments in the marketplace and constantly changing legislation that governs business.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation required, or comparable actuarial education/designation combined with relevant experience.
Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) designation required
Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in the Benefits Brokerage, Consulting, or Insurance industry preferred;
Must be strategic and tactical and able to translate big picture ideas into client objectives;
Effective analytical, math and problem solving skills, sound judgment, strong decision making ability, confidence to make difficult decisions and excellent communication skills.

Proficiency in use of PC such as keyboard skills and electronic folder/file organization and management;
Aptitude for learning internal systems, applications and internal work flow of the department;
Must be able to effectively interact and deal with people at all levels inside and outside of the company.
The primary location for this role is Conshohocken, PA; however, we are open to remote candidates from outside of the geographic area.
