Actuarial Technician (Milwaukee Pension)
Milliman’s Pension practice is currently seeking a qualified individual for an Actuarial Technician role in our Brookfield, WI office. In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply your math and analytical skills in a challenging work environment, without the expectation of pursuing the SOA exams. Working in a team environment, this role entails using spreadsheets, databases, and other software to support the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation with the valuation and administration of pension plans.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND OBJECTIVES
The Pension Practice of Milliman’s Milwaukee office is seeking candidates with strong math aptitude and Excel skills to:
Calculate benefits payable to pension plan participants following plan provisions
Analyze data for participants in pension plans
Use Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation (PBGC) software to produce benefit statements for participants and to summarize and list calculations for all participants in a pension plan
Perform research into pension plan provisions and individual participant work histories
Communicate with individuals at the PBGC
NOTE: This position does not support, require, or reimburse for SOA or CAS exam progression. Pursuing ASPPA exams is optional.
Finger printing with background check required by Federal government, to be performed after job is offered and accepted.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
Strong math aptitude and quantitative ability, including understanding of actuarial math
Strong analytical, communication (written and oral), and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail
EDUCATION, LICENSE, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree majoring in actuarial science, mathematics, or another major with quantitative course work and an outstanding academic record
Salary range for this position will be $38,000 - $40,000.
Travel expenses for applicants and relocation expenses for applicant offered the position will not be paid by Milliman.
