Assistant Client Consultant
BASIC FUNCTION:This position is part of the Client Analytics division and the candidate will be responsible for the client-facing data and analytics engagements for some of BCBSIL’s largest clients. The candidate will preferably have Executive-Level presentation experience or a proven track record of conveying complex ideas to a diverse audience via data visualization. The candidate will analyze financial and health data to determine health care expenditures, medical and economic outcomes, and cost containment strategies. Ideally the candidate will possess the ability to think critically and work independently (as well as within a team) in order to analyze complex problems and issues using large data sets; and have a pension for creative thinking as well as a desire to improve the healthcare landscape for BCBSIL’s most innovative clients.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:* Bachelor Degree OR 1 year experience in data analysis and information reporting relating to healthcare data, including pharmacy.* Approaches a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach; makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternatives; notices discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information; identifies a set of features, parameters or considerations to take into account, in analyzing a situation or making a decision; approaches a complex task or problem by breaking it down into its component parts and considering each part in detail; weighs the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success, in making a decision identifies many possible causes for a problem; carefully weighs the priority of things to be done.* Performs routine assignments in the entry level to a professional role* Typically requires a college or university degree OR the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts* Receives significant instruction, guidance and direction from others* Uses existing procedures to solve routine or basic problems* Learns needed skills by performing assigned work* Learns to work autonomouslyPREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Preference will be given to applicants with the following knowledge, skills, experience, or education:
MBA or Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, or Accounting
Analyzing and making recommendations around healthcare benefits;
Understanding or experience with underwriting and/or actuarial practices;
Ability to articulate depth and breadth of expertise in the following: Analytical thinking, communication for results, conceptual thinking, information seeking, initiative, openness to learning, results orientation, teamwork, data visualization, thoroughness, and understanding environment.
