Senior Actuary Jobs

A senior actuary is responsible for analyzing statistical data like mortality, disability, and retirement rates; carrying out experience studies in order to test actuarial assumptions; participating in development of indications and rate proposals; negotiating to achieve necessary filing approvals; planning for catastrophe exposure management; participating on industry actuarial committees; keeping updated on life insurance scenarios; preparing reports on the findings for actuary business; guiding junior actuaries and training them; coordinating with finance department in developing profitability studies and planning projections; keeping updated on government and organizational regulations and their effects on actuarial products and services; advising management on new insurance ventures; and modeling and reporting new financial measures and assumptions for insurance products.
A senior actuary should have a bachelor's degree in actuarial science, insurance, or a field in statistics. Excellent academic credentials are required. Several years of experience as an actuary are required. Strong mathematical ability and analytical skills are required.
