Chief Actuary Jobs

A chief actuary is responsible for designing and administering insurance plans; determining on financial variables like premiums, reserve requirements; collaborating with marketing division and senior management in designing new life insurance products; coordinating, preparing and performing actuarial analysis to assist in the development of pricing strategies and financial forecasts; preparing and presenting key actuarial information to the senior management; explaining technical matters to various stake holders, governmental officials, and the public at large; participating in strategic management of the division; and handling administrative matters. A chief actuary typically reports to the vice president.

A chief actuary should have a bachelor's degree in actuarial science, statistics, or a branch of mathematics. Several years of progressively responsible experience in the area of actuarial science is required. Exceptional analytical and motivating skills are essential traits for a chief actuary position. Excellent knowledge of regulatory environment and compliance issues is required.
