Assistant Actuary Jobs
An assistant actuary is responsible for assisting actuarial associates and actuarial managers in administrative tasks; participating in preparing profit and loss results; performing reviews of auto and property rates for assigned states; participating in projection of underwriting losses; preparing rate package proposals and related exhibits; attending phone calls from both customers and internal personnel; assisting in the functioning of financial models; keeping updated on new developments in the area; attending training sessions; taking minutes of meetings; preparing reports in the area and submitting the same to the department manager. An assistant actuary typically reports to an actuarial manager or actuarial director.
An assistant actuary should have a BA or BS degree in actuarial science, insurance, or a relevant field. Prior experience in this field may be helpful. Excellent analytical skills and mathematical ability are essential for such positions. Familiarity with MS Word and Excel is required.
